WHO WE ARE

The JW Group is an IT consulting firm focusing exclusively on the aviation industry. Founded in 2009 by experienced aviation IT professionals, The JW Group provides services throughout all phases of IT project lifecycles including planning, design, implementation oversight and commissioning. The personnel at The JW Group have strived to achieve and maintain their sound reputation as leaders in aviation special systems from a technological, operational, and financial perspective.

The JW Group is an IT consulting and design firm dedicated to providing high quality services to our clients. Our mission is to utilize and apply IT in the most appropriate manner to solve the complex operational and business challenges of our aviation clients. Our goal is to establish long term partnerships with all of our clients by understanding their unique requirements and processes and applying IT solutions that are specifically tailored to meet these needs.

KEY PERSONNEL

JIM WILLIS, RCDD, NCE

Jim Willis is an experienced IT professional that has been providing professional services within the aviation industry for over twenty years. His experience includes planning, programming, design, and implementation for aviation specific software and services including complex integrated systems. Jim has performed the program management and project management role for IT planning, design, and implementation projects for numerous airports throughout the nation. Jim is a National Association of Radio and Telecommunications Engineers (NARTE) Certified Engineer (NCE) as well as a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) by the Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI), a critical certification knowledge base necessary for the proper design and implementation of communications infrastructures. Jim holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce and Engineering Sciences from Drexel University. In addition, he has furthered his educational background with numerous industry training and continuing education courses strengthening his knowledge of special systems and communications infrastructure. Jim is acknowledged as assisting in the development of the 2006 TSA document: Recommended Security Guidelines for Airport Planning, Design, and Construction, and the ACC document: Airport Information Technology & Systems Best-Practice Guidelines for the Airport Industry.

JACK WALFISH, CCNP, CCDP

Jack Walfish has over ten years of IT experience including seven years in the aviation industry. He has completed numerous planning, design, and implementation projects at many airports across North America including nonhub, small, medium, and large hub airports. Jack holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Juniata College and has continued to expand upon this knowledge through industry training and experience. He is a Cisco Certified Network and Design Professional, demonstrating an advanced knowledge of networking and design best practices for Internetworked Infrastructures. Jack’s experience includes Airport IT Master Planning and system design and planning for Local Area Networks (Wires and Wireless), Common Use Passenger Processing Systems, Electronic Video Information Display Systems, Public Address Systems, Resource Management Systems and Parking Access Revenue Control Systems. Jack lives with his wife and in his spare time enjoys traveling, reading, sports, and spending time with their dog.

HAN PAK, CCNA, CCDA

Han Pak has over seven years of experience with the aviation industry and over 11 years of experience with information technology. During that time, he has worked on many airport construction projects serving as an owner’s representative and/or subject matter expert overseeing the implementation of various systems and technologies. His primary expertise is in low voltage communications system design, local and wide area network design, and integration of complex computer systems. Han graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a BS in Management Science and Information Systems. He also holds certifications as a Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Wireless, CompTIA A+, and FEMA Continuity of Operations Program Manager. Whether business or pleasure, Han spends a lot of time at Airports. During his free time he likes to travel with family and friends. So far, he’s traveled to 45 states and 21 countries.

Derek McMillan, CCNA

Derek McMillan is a knowledgeable IT specialist with a unique balance of technical expertise and interpersonal skills. He has experience in network design and development with a track record of analyzing and resolving issues in a quick and efficient manner. Although Derek is relatively new to the aviation industry, he brings years of experience from the Cyber school world with school network and site design. Derek also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Sciences and Technology from Pennsylvania State University and has supplemented his knowledge by pursuing the Cisco Certified Network Associate. Derek spends most of his free time tinkering with his computer and racing his motorcycles.

Sherri Porter

Sherri Porter is an experienced technology professional that has been working within the aviation industry for over twenty years and has been working with The JW Group since its inception. Her focus has been in the development of detailed graphical and computer aided drafting documentation in support of technology related planning, design, and implementation projects. In addition, Ms. Porter has applied her previous background in the financial industry to assist in the project management, billing, and organizational aspects of all projects. Ms. Porter holds a High Honors Associate of Applied Science in Engineering Graphics and Design and continuously updates her skill sets through continuing education programs.

Steve Ritter

Steve Ritter has over sixteen years of operational, strategic planning, design, and technical experience focused on the airport and airline industries. He is an experienced project and program manager and has held key positions at both airline and aviation consulting companies. Steve has managed many highly visible consulting engagements both domestically and abroad, including airport master plans and airport privatizations, business process improvement programs, process redesign projects, IT strategic plans, IT master plans and implementation of new technologies and systems. He is well versed in the planning and design standards of the FAA, ICAO and IATA and is also a licensed pilot.
